Greyhounds, Galgos & More
It’s important to me to learn about every pet I care for. Knowing about the specific breed of each animal helps me give better care.
I have been fortunate to have very close friends who are Greyhound adopters. I’ve spent a lot of time getting to know the important considerations that are involved in their care. Also, I assist a friend with her boarding business for Greyhounds, Galgos and mixes.
Because Greyhounds are such big flight risks, safety is a priority when I prepare to care for them. I meticulously make sure the environment is safe by securing gates and doors before transitioning in and out. For let-outs in secured yards, I also look for escape routes—holes in the dirt or fencing before going into the yard. And I never leave the dogs I am caring for alone.

Before walking, I check the collars and harnesses to ensure they fit correctly. If wearing a GPS, I check to make sure it is charged. By being thoughtful about where I walk; I try to minimize the potential for any risks for Greyhounds with high prey drive.

I know that some Greyhounds have separation anxiety or are quite shy. I am attentive to adopter instructions and follow them with precision. At the Meet & Greet, we discuss at length any special care that is needed for your sighthound.

I've come to know that the Greyhound community is a committed group of adopters who are passionate about their dogs. They come together to socialize and support each other, and to share their love of their unique dogs. They coordinate pack walks with their Greyhounds to give them a chance to be with other sighthounds which the dogs love. When a call goes out about a lost Greyhound, the Greyhound community quickly comes together with a mission to find the lost dog. I've been a part of a few of these searches and it is quite remarkable!
I’ve had the pleasure of learning about and caring for Greyhounds over the years. I thoroughly enjoy their uniqueness as a breed. It is always an honor to care for them.
